So the other day, my girlfriend named a new teddy bear after a pretty good-looking guy we both know. Big deal? Probably not. Did it hurt? A little.
But that got me thinking about something my professor told me; in the original Hebrew, the 10 commandments aren’t written like laws are supposed to be written, they’re written like a traditional marriage covenant would be written. Basically, the idea is that we are cheating on God with sin.
That kind of sort of changed the way I think of sin. I remember how much something as little as a teddy bear’s name can hurt, and I try to imagine magnifying that pain.
Will I sin again? Yep. Will I take sin a lot more seriously from now on and do it as little as possible? Absolutely.
Spouting nonsense. Or is it?
Don’t be content or you’ll grow dull and useless.
Don’t be a Christian or you’ll forget what it means to be Christ.
Don’t be a judger or you’ll blind yourself to the truth.
Don’t be a king or you’ll lose yourself to power.
Don’t be your own god or you’ll never know God.
Don’t be wise in the ways of the world or you will alienate those who should be your brothers.
Don’t say what is good and what is evil, or you will be deaf to God when he tells you what is.
Don’t be free in the traditional sense or you will become a slave.
Love God, love man.
Has anyone noticed that when you’re living life, nothing seems all that extraordinary?
Then someone takes a picture of a normal scene, even something you walk by every day, and that’s when you realize it’s beautiful?
Just a thought.
Best 3 point sermon I’ve ever heard…
Point 1, 30,000 children die of hunger each day.
Point 2, Nobody gives a shit.
Point 3, You were thinking about the fact that I said shit, and already forgot about the 30,000 children.
Hey Whoa
So, doesn’t anyone wonder HOW other people ever get enough time to re-post like a bazillion things on Tumblr? Seriously, most reposted things aren’t that great. You know?
Sorry guys, but only way I could see crap as holy is if Jesus had heavenly toilets.
Where do you go to write when you want to write something? Somewhere busy, somewhere empty?
